Robert M. Wingate, Horologist – Our Founder

Bob Wingate, founder of Wingate’s Quality Watches LLC, is a native Texan. His Dallas-based international company is very unique. Sales, purchases and trading fine previously owned and new/never worn luxury watches by mail order -- combined with dependable, friendly service -- have made Wingate’s one of the most successful watch companies in the world.
Bob Wingate is a tenth generation American with much of his genealogical history in the New England area. Bob's family history is diversified, from an ancestor serving as a senator during George Washington's presidency to many artisans and craftsmen, such as clockmakers, watchmakers, silversmiths and military hardware manufacturers.

Today, Bob Wingate is considered an expert in the field of horology as well as a respected and honest businessman. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Texas in 1974. He received his Associate Degree of Horology (watch and clockmaking) from Mountain View College in 1976. He is also certified by the American Watchmakers' Institute.

Bob has always had an appreciation and interest in many types of mechanical objects. His interest in watches grew during his watchmaking training, and he soon began buying, selling and collecting fine timepieces.

He considers watches to be mechanical works of art and one of the most important inventions ever made.
